Throughout his career, Mr. Pacheco has accumulated extensive experience in the oil and gas sector by acting in complex transactions on behalf of multinationals based in Brazil, France, India and the United States. In 2017, Mr. Pacheco notably advised BP on the setting up of a joint venture with Prumo in a project set to develop a natural gas facility in the Porto de Açu (RJ).

At new firm Schmidt Valois, Mr. Pacheco will focus on all types of upstream, downstream and midstream mandates alongside the other eight partners making up the department – these include renowned figures such as Rogério Miranda, Paulo Valois and Guilherme Schmidt. With this lateral hire, the firm shows its belief in the recovery of the oil and gas market following Brazil’s economic crisis.

Luis Fernando Pacheco holds a Bachelor’s in Law from Universidade do Estado do Rio de Janeiro (UERJ), a specialization degree in tax law from Universidade Cândido Mendes as well as an LL.M. from Kent College of Law.
